Interior Design

The west has long looked to the east when it comes to acquiring quality fabrics, and as the needs of the western markets change so does the nature of the fabrics available. As time moves on it becomes more necessary and for many palatable to source ethically produced, sustainable quality fabrics for contemporary living.

Historically the manufacturing world of the East has always supplied the consumer demand of the West, but even this relationship has slowly changed as the requirement for not just eco-friendly but also ethical consumables has grown. It is an age old relationship, goods imported from the Orient have long been sought after for there beauty. In buildings around the western world built by some of the greatest architects the have passed before you would often see fine examples of Oriental rugs or pottery sourced by the architect or designer to add the finishing touches required to reach perfection. So it is no surprise that the manufacturers if old are adapting there products to meet modern design requirements.

The future of contemporary living and modern design must surely lie in the salvage and reclamation of quality textiles and materials from the past. We have all seen the intrinsic beauty offered up by the use of reclaimed wood in architecture and home and garden design, or chairs made from recycled metal and sustainably harvested wood. Is it not now the responsibility of consumer and manufacturer alike to concentrate efforts towards finding eco-friendly ways to meet the demand for quality materials, not just for the sake of contemporary modern living but also in-tune with modern attitudes towards the steady and ultra-destructive errors of the past (and present}.

If you dredge the search engines and blogs you will find plenty of online noise being made by companys' making furniture from wood stocks that our easy to replenish, or designing houses with minimal impact on the surrounding environment, If you make the effort to do it bit of research it is almost entirely possible to find the item you require in some kind of environmentally friendly form.

There is a new philosophy in town that represents a mutual respect between design and nature, it is increasingly important in modern design to create spaces that our aesthetically pleasing but our also entirely organic and eco-friendly.
